    FAQ

    Still have questions? That’s healthy.

Everything people ask before they leave their SIEM, answered straight.

    Break up with your SIEM
Do I have to leave my SIEM all at once?

No. Abstract is composable, so you start with whatever you’re missing and the platform assembles as you go. Most teams start with Pipelines (fix the data layer), then Abstract Lake (retention), then Detections, which run in-stream alongside the SIEM you keep. The Agentic SIEM is where it ends up. Keep the SIEM you have, or replace it. Your call.

    What is Abstract, exactly?

A security data pipeline and agentic SIEM in one platform. It’s four components on one streaming data plane: Pipelines with 400+ integrations, in-stream Detections, Abstract Lake for searchable storage in your cloud, and the Agentic SIEM, where Astro AI handles triage, hunting and response.

My SIEM says it’s next-gen. What’s actually different?

Next-gen SIEMs moved to the cloud and kept the storage-first design: write first, search later, detect after the fact. Federated search skips the index but waits on every system at once. Abstract detects in-stream, while the data is still moving and before anything is written to storage, so the verdict lands in seconds instead of after the attacker’s next hundred actions.

    Will it really cost less?

Customers measure 50–80% lower SIEM total cost of ownership and more than 80% less ingest, because the noise is removed in-stream while full fidelity is kept in Abstract Lake. For our next 100 customers: unlimited ingestion and retention, self-hosted, at one price for three years. That’s less than you pay now, whether you’re on Splunk, Cribl or any other SIEM or pipeline. Some conditions apply.

    What happens to my data?

It’s collected once, then normalized, enriched, reduced and routed to any destination in OCSF, ECS or CIM. Full-fidelity copies stay in Abstract Lake in your own cloud at object-storage cost, searchable without rehydration, for as long as it matters. Your cloud, our cloud, any cloud.

Is the AI going to replace my analysts?

Machines fight. Humans command. Astro AI with Investigation Bundles works every case on arrival, so analysts review a finished case instead of digging. You set the level: observe and summarize, recommend, execute with human approval, or execute automatically within policy. Every action is documented as it happens.

How long does the move take?

Sources connect and go live in days. Migration to the Agentic SIEM takes weeks. And because every component lands on its own, nothing else has to change on day one.

Can it see our AI tools too?

Yes. Prompts, responses, agents, tool calls and usage are all telemetry. Abstract discovers models, agents and unsanctioned AI, and detects prompt injection, model manipulation and exfiltration through model output, in-stream and tied to identity. Every agent action is kept in Abstract Lake as evidence.

Can we try it before we commit?
